So yesterday was our ultrasound, and today I am here to give the full report. I can pretty much sum it all up with one word though: beautiful.
The whole experience was just the best thing ever, and really I want to do it everyday until the baby is born. To be able to see our little Baby B just hanging out inside me, waving and kicking, and swimming was just so wow. I am so glad we have the technology to take a look inside because I think it sort of creates an instant bond between the mum and dad and baby. I know Josh and I felt that way. The second the baby came up on the screen I was overwhelmed. I could hardly believe what I was seeing. A head and arms and hands and legs and feet, it was so surreal. The sonographer was super nice, pointing out different areas of the baby, letting us ask questions about what was on the screen. Tragically, we didn’t get any view between the legs. The little stinker ended up sitting on its bum for part of the time, therefore making it very hard for Josh and I to get a peek. It’s ok though, we go to UC Baby at the end of March. It seems pretty far away right now, but hopefully it will fly by. We got to see it’s little profile and I think we have one cute baby in there (a cute little 2-D grayscaled baby!). One thing I wish they offered was to print off some pictures for us to take home. I mean it’s our baby, we deserve it. Lucky for us, we have a friend who works at the hospital who said he would try to get my file and print some off for us. Super nice. If that happens, I’ll post picture for sure. In the meantime just imagine it looks like a little Skeletor, something from “A Nightmare Before Christmas”. So cute huh?!

18.5 weeks
Oh, and I have a hideous cold today and yesterday. It kept me up all night...so no sleep and no drugs. Anyone have good ideas on how to cope with a stuffy/runny/sneezy nose? Please help!

The runaround story
I honestly don’t have too much new to report. Just working and sleeping and eating and ya know. I figured I would post tho, since I am bored.
Actually, I kind of have a fun story, that is more of a rant. Oh, it just gets me going just thinking about it!
Ok, so as some of you know, I am in my 20th week this week, and normally this is the time you go for an ultrasound. Well, fun stuff: my ultrasound isn’t even booked yet.
Here’s the story.
On January 14th I called my doctors office and spoke with the booking nurse because I had yet to hear about an ultrasound. I thought it was a little weird, because most people I know said they knew way in advance about theirs. So the nurse said she could re-fax the requisition form thru. I said I didn’t know if the doctor had even filled one of those out, so not to worry because I’d see her on Jan 28th. So I did see her then, and she said by someone’s error the form was misplaced or something so she filled out a new one and faxed it that day. That was a Monday. She said I would know by that Friday. I didn’t hear anything all week long. So the following Wednesday (Feb 6th) I called back to speak with the nurse, and she said not to worry, it wasn’t a big deal and she would call me when she heard something. I was a little annoyed with her, as I think she was with me for calling. But whatever. So I let it be again until Feb 18th. I still hadn’t heard anything and the week of the 25th was fast approaching. So I called and spoke with the same nurse who said “um, like I said before, we’ll call you when we know” and I am like thinking, it’s not normal not to know this far after faxing the form, and it was only 2 weeks before I was supposed to go and I thought it was odd. She just thought I was crazy. So I waited some more. Anyways, Kevin C was over on Wednesday evening (Feb 20th) and he said I should just call the ultrasound department at the hospital myself. So I did. I spoke with the booking desk and she said I was not booked in, and they didn’t even have a requisition form for me! Oh man, I was soooo mad. I was like hot in the face mad. So I spazzed out at my desk a little, just so mad at that dumb nurse who made me feel like I was being stupid and so I knew I had to calm down before I called my doctors office. Then I didn’t know if I should call at all or just wait until my appointment on Monday or something, but you know what, I am not really a sit around and wait kinda gal (obviously. I think this is a good thing, because if I hadn’t taken the initiative than I’d still be here a year from now waiting for my nurse to call). Anways, so I called back later on and thankfully it was a different nurse that answered and so he was way more understanding and said he would fax thru my form again and write ASAP on it and such. Now maybe he just said that, but I am hoping that we’ll hear early next week about an appointment. But yea, I think this whole ordeal was so stupid. I mean, why wouldn’t that nurse have checked up on my status at the hospital? It wasn’t like it was hard. I know I am a little bit of a crazy pregnant lady, but you know what, it’s my first and I am a patient and even if I am crazy, it’s still their job to give me 100% care. Heck.
Ok, I am done. Thanks for sticking with me thru that!
Anyways, I hope you all have an awesome weekend. We’re in for some snow tonight, but sun tomorrow, so that’s good. Yay. Good. The end.

The pictures
Us, the not so loving lovers! Josh refuses to smile for pictures. Not sure why. Could divorce him for this oddity alone :)

V-day fun
Oh, I just love Valentine’s Day. Tragically, I think I live with Scrooge, so it’s not a big deal in our house. Poor Josh believes that it’s just a corporate invented holiday, (which it totally is, but I’m all about it) so we don’t do the present thing. I suppose this isn’t an all bad thing (you know, being poor and all!) but I am not so good at not spending money so of course I bought something for my favourite man. Sad thing, it didn’t get here yet, so I can’t say what it is. Nothing too big, but just something to show I love him!
So yea, even though Josh is the anti-lover of all holidays I did convince him to entertain me for one evening. So it started with him coming to visit me at work for lunch and he brought me potted flowers (Josh doesn’t believe in cut flowers, he says they die too soon and even though I will probably end up killing the flowers he gave me anyways, they’d last longer than the cut ones!). We ate lunch together at work and then he went back to school. Then at 5 he picked me up and we went to OPA! where we met up with Kelly and Rob. I have to say, I love that place. It’s one of the places I go out to eat for lunch at work, and so I’m always talking about it, and thought, hey, why not go there for supper. So we got there and seated and it was super nice in there with their little twinkly lights on the trees and the little rose at the table. We ordered my favorite appetizer and then had chicken souvlaki for my main course. Josh and Rob got some type of pasta (which I also ate some of because I am a pig) and Kelly got stuffed chicken. I think we all enjoyed it all pretty good, since we walked out of there stuffed. This, however, didn’t stop us from going back to Kelly and Rob’s place for chocolate fondue! Mmm. Strawberries and cantaloupe and bananas are all my favourite and it was so good. After I stuffed my face there we had to rush out because I was popping out of my pants! It was such a good night though. So thanks to Josh for pretending to love V-day, and thanks to Kel and Rob for the fun evening.
Hope you all had a good evening doing whatever it was you do. Oh, and I have pictures, but my camera is dead. I’ll post them on Monday.

Spring time?
It's hardly actually time for spring. As I write this there is snow falling outside my window. Oh sigh. However, the other day it felt kind of like summer was on it's way. Josh fired up the bbq for the first time in 2008 for our annual superbowl steak. I have to say, it was most delicious. We also did our potatoes on the bbq and they were also awesome. I can't wait for the season to begin so we can have more of these yummilicous dinners.
